Wow. It is May already! I cannot believe I am going on 18 weeks pregnant! Almost halfway there. It has gone by both fast and slow. I thankfully have had an easy, breezy pregnancy thus far physically (standard fatigue and minimal nausea) though it has been pretty emotionally and mentally stressful. But, that is lessening too.
I must admit I am super proud of myself. I have not bought new baby one.single.thing. Not so much as a onesie. That is good for me, considering the amount of crap stuff I bought for Porter in pregnancy. But the second time mom in me has a been-there-done-that mentality. The only things babies need in their first weeks of life are, breasts, blankets, a good baby wearing device, diapers and a onsie. That about does it. However, now that I am reaching the halfway mark and our ultrasound is on Friday, I find myself getting the itch. One thing that will save us money, WE ARE NOT FINDING OUT THE GENDER. I repeat, not finding out. People cannot seem to get over this one! He, he. We just want that surprise. So few true surprises in life. It is not like we will never know.... in approx. 150 days everyone will know!!
That will make it easier. I am letting myself buy two newborn outfits. One girl, one boy for the "first outfit" and I will get over the waste of one of them. We do need some stuff that we will compile bit by bit. Most of the necessary items are "big ticket" items. Some are just because I want them! I am hoping to use the second half of my pregnancy and first month post partum collecting everything. Neil even agreed we can skip over the small stuff and get the bigger stuff that we need.
1. A nice Pack n Play
I want this for our room. Our babies are in our room for at least six months. Plus we need it for travel and guests.
2. A Papasan Style Swing
3. Aden + Anais Muslin Blanket's.
Just because I have heard they are great so I wanna try them. Porter didn't like the swaddling thing. Maybe New Baby will. This is just a want. A "just because".
4. To Bassinet or not to Bassinet.... that is the question. I love this one.
Not sure how practical they are. A pack and play may suffice, but sure is cute!
and this one.....
5. A Mei Tai.
I want to design my own. This is an expensive carrier but worth it and customizable. I want it soooo bad. It is an Asian iinspired, soft structured baby carrier. So cute.
That is about it for now! I will keep building to my list I am sure. But it is much less stressful the second time around. Eventually we will need a second bedroom set and crib for the new baby, probably a double stroller, and maybe a new pump. But that is a ways out, so we won't rush. I am going to hold off as long as possible but I love to browse and look! Can't wait for our new bug to get here!
Hey girl, kudos to you for not buying anything! I thought not knowing what we were having would make it easier. Not so much!
ReplyDeleteI love your brown and green color scheme!
Let me send you one of my Aden and Anais blankets before you pay the $40 for a set. We actually don't like them. Baby Debby aka Houdini can get out of them every.single.time. No matter how tight! We LOVE Woombies though! Totally worth the cost because she can't get out, but she still have freedom to move. Let me know if you want me to send you a blanket, though, and you can try it before you buy a set after the baby gets here.
I LOVE babywearing- and Debby does too! That Mei Tai is intriguing. I may have to get one for the next baby, although I LOVE my Ergo and my lillebaby Everywear. Deb lives in them while I am babysitting.
SO exciting that you are halfway!!!!!!
Oh that would be great! I have heard those Woombies are awesome. Baby Half Off had them not too long ago and I was intrigued. Maybe I will try those. Porter just was not a swaddling baby. So I want a couple to play around with.
ReplyDeleteMei Tai's are awesome! It is basically an all fabric Ergo. I have an Ergo, a ring sling and a Moby (which I am not a huge fan of) so I dont "need" a Mei Tai but I want one. Everyone I know that has them loves them. I also may invest in a good woven wrap. Now those are amazing. And gorgeous. And expensive! So we will see how it works out.
You just wait! It will be you soon enough with number 2! Kids as close as mine, I don't need much.
Once again will that iron will! I simply could not do it!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I love cradles. I think they are so pretty, and there is something so classic about them, but the rational part of me says no. I just can't imagine a cradle and a Pack 'n Play, but that's just me. If you do decide to go for it, I can't wait to see it and the bedding! Ohmygosh, cradle bedding is precious.
I carry an Aiden & Anais blanket with us wherever we go- not because Margot is a swaddle baby (she hated being swaddled), but because I love the softness of them for her to snuggle with or to lay down, or just whatever. It the perfect lightness for the hot weather here when she just needs a little something in a restaurant or mall.
I sill have my Maya (with the pocket) if you want it for Baby #2. I will just give it to you, since it didn't work out for us.
No way! We will buy it from you for sure. I jsut may need some time. Perhaps post vacay. I am a junkie!
ReplyDeleteI love cradles too! but I am with you. I don't need both.... or do I?? haha
I promise, the iron will is all my hubby! We went to dinner last night and he said he would agree to have the ultrasound tech write it down and put it in a sealed envelope in case we change our minds. And I said no, I can't live with that info in the house! So we find out Friday or not at all. And he said ok, not at all.... boooo. But I am moving past it. Sigh. In the end, it will be really fun I know but this impatient girl had a tough pill to swallow!
If it is a girl you can help me "pink" shop!
